I always say 'never do online that which is better done off line'. You are right to consider the purpose of the learning - that is our role as the educator - and the how comes into the picture too but sometimes I worry that we get sidetracked by the bells and whistles of the ICT without being fully aware of the quality of the learning taking place. How interesting! I'm not against e-learning, but I do think that a more hands-on-approach is a really effective way of learning.
